The Elephant Parade

The Elephant Parade is the world's largest art international exhibition of decorated elephant statues. Anyone can design one, and each is a unique art piece. The elephants range from life sized to baby sized, and they are all individually beautiful.

After each exhibition of the elephants, a number of the statues are auctioned by a renowned auction house. The profit from these auctions goes to the elephants and 20% is donated to the Asian Elephant Foundation.

This global movement is not only exciting and a great opportunity to create and design, but is effectively raises awareness of the need for elephant conservation.

Let's Paint a Brighter Future!

The Parade was founded by a father and son, who met a baby elephant on holiday. The elephant had lost a leg after stepping on a landmine. Mosha, the baby elephant, inspired the father and son to create the Elephant Parade. Mosha's home base in Lampang was the first organisation to recieve money generated by the Elephant Parade, and it continues to recieve funds.

Why are you telling us about this? Well for my mother's birthday in March, she bought my brother and I two of the baby sized elephants to paint for her present. It was a great challenge to come up with a design that represented ourselves, and looked beautiful! But here are the finished products... (I'm sure you can guess which is mine and my brothers)

Have you heard of the elephant parade?

River Flows in You | Yirumha

River Flows in You is a beautiful piece composed by Yirumha. I have absolutely fallen in love with this piece, to the extent of learning it on the piano. The piece is charming as well as calming, with beautiful tunes and rhythms. The piano piece itself is not too challenging, but has some complicated rhythms. It took me a while to learn, but the result is truly rewarding. All of Yirumha's pieces are unique, with some movie-like stunning pieces. But I just had to tell you about this piece, and why not give it a listen?

Cocktail Bling | Essie

Cocktail Bling by Essie is a beautiful greyed out blue polish. Depending on the light, it can either look very blue or very grey - I love that versatility.  At the moment I am really loving neutral colours (greys and browns), and this colour fits my needs exactly. I can wear this pretty much all year round, and it can still look amazing. The coverage of the polish is quite good, but I needed two coats to really show the colour. It also works with any skin tone. I love this colour so much, and was delighted to get my nails done in this colour recently (so they are perfect!).

Amazing Wedding Cakes

Recently, I've gained a new obsession for the TV program Amazing Wedding Cakes.
I've always loved baking, but I never knew I would love watching it so much!

The program follows 4 different Wedding Cake businesses in America. There is Cake Alchemy, Christopher Garren's Cakes, Cake Girls and Merci Beacoup Cakes. They make a very high standard of cakes, with new and exciting challenges each program. Each episode looks at 3 of the shops, and a specific cake order they have to tackle.

There are problems they have to overcome, and times when you feel like there will never be a cake!

But the final product is always breathtaking. The elaborate structures always exceed expectations.Watching how they create such beautiful 'cake-sculptures' is mesmerising, and I love seeing what new cake ideas come through the door.

For me the program is very exciting - it is quite the guilty pleasure. I hope to make a cake like theirs some day!

Here are a few of their amazing creations…

What's your guilty pleasure?

Bastille | Amazing Covers

If you don't know what I'm talking about with this Amazing Covers business, click here to find out!

Bastille is a band, with their lead singer Dan Smith (picture above).

They are INCREDIBLY awesome, so even if you aren't interested in these covers, please go and check them out on Youtube or iTunes, because I love them and hope you will to <3

Bastille have done a lot of covers, and I'm just picking a few of my favourites, so feel free to comment if you find any other good Bastille covers you think are good too! I'd love to hear your opinions, suggestions and comments!

Lets goooo :D

1. No Scrubs
Now I couldn't find the iTunes version of this song, but check it out on YouTube.
This song was originally by TLC, and was a really catchy, up-beat tune.
Bastille covers this song in such a unique, qwerky, and different way to the original, and I love it! This is probably my favourite cover they have done.

2. What Would You Do
Click here to buy on iTunes and here for the YouTube video.
This song was originally by City High, and I really loved it's story, tune and beat.
But when I heard Bastille's cover, the City High song was taken to a new level. I think that Bastille exaggerates the story's meaning, and make's it so much better!

3. We Can't Stop

I couldn't find this cover on iTunes, but here is the cover on YouTube.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows this tune by Miley Cyrus (with a very controversial music video). I think the song was less appealing as Miley Cyrus sang it.
In Bastille's cover, he reveals the true potential in the song. His voice sounds so good singing this song, I would really recommend it.

I hope you liked this Amazing Covers post, and are looking forward to more. Bastille is really talented, and I really recommend checking him out. They are incredible in concert, better than their songs!

I hope you are looking forward to the next Amazing Covers post, and I can't wait to share it with you.

Feel free to recommend covers, tell me if you liked these covers, or just say hi!

Exercises for your Abs 2!

A few weeks ago, I posted about exercises for your Abs. Now I've discovered some new exercises, which are just effective as the others. If you haven't seen my last post of exercises, click here to see!

And it's the time you've all been waiting for... The next set of abs exercises!

Here are 3 more really effective workouts, to help you get the abs you want. Keep these up regularly, because repeating these work better than doing them all in one day, every month or so.

1. V-Sits (double and single leg)

- Lie down flat on your back, with your arms either over your head or by your sides
- Simultaneously, lift your legs and body upwards to meet in the 'V' position
- Get to the position above, and return back to lying down
- Do 10-20, then repeat (make your number achievable, but challenging)
- If you are struggling to lift your legs and body to the right position, at the right time, try one-legged V-sits
-Do the same technique, but only bring one leg up
- Alternate your legs each time

2. Toe Touch

- Lie flat on your back
- Lift your legs to 90 degrees, and lift your arms parallel to your legs
- Keeping your legs in the same position, reach up and try to touch your toes
- Remember to reach up, not lean forward
- Return to your original position, and the repeat
- This exercise is a bit easier, so you can try more repeats

3. Opposite Arm and Leg Raise

- Begin on all fours, aligning your knees under your hips and your wrists under your shoulders
- Raise your left arm to shoulder height and your left leg to hip height
- Hold for two counts, reaching forward with your fingers and back with your heels
- Repeat on the opposite side
- For a harder workout, touch your opposite elbow to your knee as you pull your arm and leg in

***

Keep up these exercises, and if you found this post useful please tell me in the comments or tweet me! Keep me updated with any progress you make! Stay positive, and if you put your mind to it, you can do anything!

Remember; do not over-do it, and if you feel faint or dizzy please stop exercising! Keep hydrated, and stretch thoroughly before and after working out.

Thank you guys, and have a lovely day :)

Spring OOTD | 2014 Blogger Challenge

This spring I'm really loving these patterned baggy shorts (Forever 21 - Desert Daze Shorts). They are light and extremely comfortable. I'm also thinking of purchasing some more, colourful and floral pairs of these shorts.

This plain white cami (River Island) goes so well with the patterned shorts. The plain and patterned contrast really nicely, and the top sits really well on the shorts. I also love the interesting crossed straps on this style of cami.

I would accessorise this outfit with some gladiator/flat sandals (with straps!), some nice simple earrings and a midi ring (like this one from topshop).

What is your Spring OOTD?

Blogilates | Youtube

Personally, two of my favourite things to do are watch YouTube and do sport.
And very recently, I found an amazing way to combine the two!

This is Cassey Ho, a certified Pilates and fitness instructor, and her channel is Blogilates.  She was named FITNESS Magazine's Best Healthy Living Blogger.

She makes effective, high energy work-outs, incorporating Pilates into pretty much every video. Cassey posts regular videos, and never fails with the awesome work-out she shows you. She gets involved, helping you get motivated!

Each video has a specific target, such as: Best Stretches to Relieve Low Back Pain or 5 Best Muffintop Melting Moves. This ensures that everyone can work on specifically what they want to work on! Personally seeing a video that is exercising exactly what I need is a god-send.

Cassey makes stretching, strengthening, dance and many more styles of video! She always keeps you on your toes - literally! Her exercises are extremely effective, but also very easy. Getting involved in these fitness regimes is like a piece of cake - all you need is some space and a computer. I really recommend subscribing to her, as her videos are both motivating and professional.

Here are all her links:

My Day in London | 2014 Blogger Challenge

My day started off with a lovely visit to the Saatchi Gallery, and even though I'd been before it was still interesting! The layout had been completely changed, with new, exciting (and sometimes disturbing) pieces of art.

Yes I know it's not Christmas, but why not take a picture with a Christmas tree!?

I have always found street performers a little creepy... So I look at a distance!

The lovely lights and adverts!

A cool, Winter Wonderland-like fun fair near Leicester Square. Sadly I couldn't go on any rides, but in the dark the rides did look amazing!

I hope you liked this insight into my day in London, and want more posts like this!

Have you visited London recently?
